The information below relates to our new app. We’ve started rolling out our new app, you might not have access to it just yet. Sit tight, we’ll let you know as soon as it’s available to you.

We’ve built a new app to support you in the life you’re after. It includes new features to help you manage your money as well as making quick and easy payments.

In the AIB mobile app, you can:

 Make payments using either Zippay or SEPA Instant.

  • Use Zippay for fast and secure payments to your family and friends. Send up to €1,000 to family and friends, they can send you money, and you can split payments up to €500 each with them, like the restaurant bill.
  • Use SEPA Instant to make fast, secure and efficient payments throughout the SEPA zones. With Selfie Check, you can send up to €10,000 to another account instantly. Without Selfie Check, you can send up to €1,000 to another account instantly.
  • Using either of these ways of paying there is a daily limit on how much you can pay. Find out more about transaction limits.

 Pay your bills.

 Create, view, or cancel standing orders.

 View or cancel direct debits.

 View, download, or request a statement of fees or an account statement

 Freeze or replace your cards.

 Set up and use Apple Pay and Google Pay in minutes.

 Create budgets to support you in managing your money and giving you more insight into your spending habits.

 Open a new current or savings account. No need to visit us in Branch.

Keeping your banking safe & secure

 Set up passkeys, a simple and secure way of logging in to the app.

 If you want to find out more information about a transaction, tap on it to see the transaction type, status, time and date.

 Lost your card or need a replacement? Freeze or cancel your card in your AIB mobile app. If you happen to find your card, you can unfreeze it at any time. If you need a replacement card, you can order a new one.

Open a current account with us in the AIB mobile app

It’s simple and takes minutes to open a current account with us in the app.

If you are looking to open a current account on your own, you need to:

 Be aged 16 and over.

 Live in the Republic of Ireland.

 Have a valid passport.

To open a current account with us:

  1. Download the AIB mobile app from your App Store (iOS) or Google Play store (Android).
  2. Tap ‘Join AIB’ and follow the on-screen steps. You will need your Passport on hand to scan in the app.

If you are not eligible to open a current account on the AIB mobile app, here are other ways:

If you’re already a customer, you can open a current account from the ‘Apply & Open’ section of Internet Banking.

At any AIB branch

Looking to switch from AIB to another bank?

You may also be interested in switching your Personal Current Account from AIB to another bank.

To do this you must get a Switching Pack from the Bank that you wish to transfer your account into and follow the steps that are outlined. This process is in line with the Central Bank of Ireland's Switching Code. Please contact your branch if you need more information.
