How do I set up and pay an AIB credit card bill?

To set up and pay a new credit card bill:
1. Log into your app.
2. Tap the ‘Payments’ option in the bottom tab.
3. Tap ‘Pay a bill’.
4. Then, tap ‘From Account’ which is the account you want to send the money from.
5. Then, tap the ‘To Account’.
6. Tap ‘New’, top right of the pop-up screen and select ‘who you are paying’.
7. Tap ‘Credit card bills’ and choose who you are paying from the list of credit card providers. You will be asked to enter the ‘Credit card number’ and a ‘Nickname’ before tapping ‘Save and continue’.
8. On the next screen tap, enter the amount you want to ‘Pay’.
9. Before you ‘Continue’, select the ‘Payment type’. The payment type will default to ‘Standard’ (money arrives on the same or next business day), but you can choose ‘Standard’ ( money normally arrives within seconds). The transaction charges for these types of payments are the same.
10. Confirm the details are correct and tap ‘Pay bill’.
11. If your payment is over €250, we will make sure it’s you making the payment. We will do this using Selfie Check. If you’re paying a saved payee, we will not ask you to do a Selfie Check.
12. You can see the completed payment in the ‘Payments’ section of the app.
To pay a regular credit card bill:
1. Log into your AIB Mobile app.
2. Tap the ‘Payments’ option in the bottom tab.
3. Tap ‘Pay a bill’.
4. First, enter the amount you want to ‘Pay’.
5. Then, tap the ‘From account’ which is the account you want to send the money from.
6. Then, tap the ‘To Account’ which is the credit card account you want to make a payment to.
7. Before you ‘Continue’, select the ‘Payment type’. The payment type will default to ‘Standard’ (money arrives on the same or next business day) but you can choose ‘Instant’ ( money normally arrives within seconds). The transaction charges for these types of payments are the same.
8. Confirm the details are correct and tap ‘Pay bill’.
9. If you’re payment is over €250 we will make sure it’s you making the payment. We will do this using Selfie Check. If you’re paying a saved payee, we will not ask you to do Selfie Check.
10. You can see the completed payment in the ‘Payments’ section of the app.
Pay again

With ‘Pay again’, you can repeat a payment for a bill by tapping on the transaction. No need to start again. Just tap the payment and follow the steps to repeat it.

You can also adjust to the amount or the account you are sending money from.
New Credit Card bills cannot be set up using the old app. Go to How do I manage my bills? for information on how to set the card up using AIB Internet Banking or AIB Tablet Banking.

To pay a Credit Card bill that has been set up:
1. Log in to AIB Mobile Banking
2. Select the Pay & transfer
3. Click on Pay a bill and follow the onscreen instructions to complete your request.

2. Click on Pay & Transfer and select Pay a bill.
3. Follow the on screen instructions to complete your request.
If you'd like to set up a direct debit to pay your credit card monthly, go to Services & Settings, select Manage My Cards and click on Setup Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) Direct Debit. Following the steps to set up the direct debit. You will need your AIB Card Reader to set up a direct debit on your AIB Credit Card.

Visit the Quick Banking Area where you can use the Cash & Cheque Lodgement Machine to lodge cash, use the Kiosk, or visit our cashier counter where a member of staff can help you with your request to pay your credit card bill.

NB: Remember to bring the Credit Card Giro slip from the bottom of your paper statement with you if you are lodging cash.

From a bank account using IBAN

Payments from Irish banks (Irish bank IBANs starts with IE)

If you are making an electronic payment from an Irish bank account, you can do so by using the following BIC and IBAN

Reference: You must include your full 16 digit credit card number in the payment/credit message.

If you don’t include the 16 digit credit card number when you send your payment, the payment may be returned.

Payments from non Irish banks

If you are making an electronic payment from a non Irish bank account, you can do so by using the following BIC and IBAN:

Reference: You must include your full 16 digit credit card number in the payment/credit message.

If you don’t include the 16 digit credit card number when you send your payment, the payment may be returned.

Verification of Payee (VoP) is a security feature that checks if the name and IBAN you enter for a payment match the details registered on the account.

To get a ‘Match’ result, please enter:

Account Name: AIB Visa

Even small differences (extra words, abbreviations, or typos) can result in a ‘Close Match’ or ‘No Match’.

Set up a direct debit to automatically pay your credit card each month. You can choose to pay either the full balance, set percentage or the minimum amount.
