How do I open a new current account?

1. Log in to the app.
2. On the ‘Home’ screen tab, under your list of accounts select ‘Open a new account’.
3. To open a new current account, tap the option on the next screen to see the type of current account types available to you. You choose the one most suitable for you.
4. Select the current account type you want and tap ‘Apply now’.
5. Follow the on-screen steps to complete the application. You will be asked to select a purpose for the account, where the money in the account will come from and what your annual income for the account will roughly be.
6. You can also open a new account under the ‘Products’ section of our app. Tap ‘Products’, then ‘New account’ and follow the on-screen steps.
Would you like to become an AIB customer? If you live in the Republic of Ireland are aged 16 and over and have a passport (or other acceptable ID documents), you can now open an account using the old app.

Download the app, click on ‘Become an AIB customer’ and follow the steps to start the process.

You will need to have your passport or ID documents with you.

If you are an existing AIB customer, you can open a new or additional Personal Account or Advantage Account online.

Log in to the app

On the Menu select Products

Click on Apply & Open and select Current Accounts

Follow the instructions on screen to complete your request.

If you are an AIB Internet Banking customer, you can open a new Personal Account or Advantage Account online.

2. Click on Apply & Open and select Current Accounts
3. Follow the instructions on screen to complete your request.
