Why is AIB withdrawing the transactonline service?

AIB is withdrawing the transactonline service as it no longer meets the needs of our customers, specifically because:

  1. Technical advances on the Internet such as anti virus software interfere with the operation of transactonline.
  2. Measures taken by companies to prevent online fraud are causing o-codes authorisations to fail.
  3. There are more and more types of transactions that are unsuitable for transactonline such as reoccurring direct debits from companies.
  4. We now have a suitable industry-standard replacement product - Verified by Visa.

When is AIB withdrawing transactonline?

New customers can no longer register for transactonline using AIB Internet Banking. Existing customers can continue to generate o-codes up and until the 31st July 2006 and those o-codes will be valid until the 31st August 2006.

What can customers use instead?

Customers can register for Verified by Visa, and use this service to protect their credit card from possible fraud while shopping online.

What if I need to get a refund? If the system doesn't work anymore how can I get my money back?

Even if your o-code has expired or after transactonline has been withdrawn, the o-code number can still be used to refund money to the original card however it will not get an updated expiry date. If the merchant has any queries on this matter please ask them to contact Credit Card Support in AIB at (01) 6685500.

Remove the old transactonline software from your pc
Register online for Verified by Visa

How do I remove the software from my system?

  1. Go to the start menu
  2. Select Control Panel
  3. Select the Add/Remove Programs option
  4. Scroll down the list until you find O-card, select O-card
  5. Highlight the o-card software by clicking on it with your mouse (you may have more than one type of o-card software installed, its name will always begin with o-card)
  6. Click Remove
  7. Check to see if any other o-card programs are installed (e.g. o-card gold card plug in) and remove it by highlighting it and clicking remove
  8. Restart the pc
  9. Check the pc to make sure the software has been removed
