Please be aware that there are new fraudulent (phishing) emails circulating purporting to be from AIB in relation to suspension of your AIB Internet Banking due to the launch of the new AIB Internet Banking service.
These emails are NOT from AIB!
The emails state:
Fraudulent Email Example 1:
“We recently reviewed your account due to recent upgrades on our homepage, and we suspect an unauthorized transaction Therefore as a preventive measure we will temporary limit your access to sensitive Allied Irish Online Banking features. To ensure that your account is not compromised, please log in to your Allied Irish Online Banking and verify your identity to prevent deactivation. Please we require you to update your 100 digit code card number.”
Fraudulent Email Example 2:
“Due to the high rate of fraud, we have decided to put an extra security to help us secure you and your money while you use the Code Cards for withdrawals and Online purchases. With effect from May 10th 2009 , an extra verification will be introduced to make your transaction more secure and protect your from these fraudsters, this measure will include an sms/email verification which will be sent to Mobile Number or Email addresses.
Due to this, you are requested to Verify/Register your Account Information’s including your phone number (Code/cards) and email addresses where verification codes will be sent to.
Please Register/Activate your Account now by clicking HERE or visit www.aib.ie/activ/ and then do as required. (Failure to verify your Account details correctly will lead to immediate Account suspension).
Be notified that all Account and Code Cards must be registered On or Before 20th May 2009 . Failure to register your Account will lead to Account suspension.”
AIB DO NOT sent unsolicited emails and we DO NOT require you to log in, up-date your details or prevent your AIB Internet Banking from being suspended by clicking on a link in an email or by downloading a file/attachment in an email.
Please note: the link in the email can look like the correct URL for the new AIB Internet Banking service. However, if you click on it you will be directed to a fake (spoof) website.
If you click on the link you will be presented with a page that looks like the log in page for the new AIB Internet Banking service. However, it is a page on a fake (spoof) website.
On this fake (spoof) website the fraudsters will ask you to enter some or all of the following information:
If you receive these specific emails or any other similar emails DO NOT CLICK ON ANY LINKS OR ENTER ANY DETAILS, forward it to alert@aib.ie and then delete it without clicking on any links or attachments.
Please remember AIB DO NOT ask customers to enter their AIB Internet Banking log in details or AIB Code Card numbers via a downloadable file/attachment or a link in an email.

To log in to AIB Internet Banking you will only ever be asked for your:
8 digit Registration Number,
3 random digits of your 5 digit Personal Access Number
The last 4 digits of either your home/work/mobile phone or AIB credit card number.
