Credit Card eStatement Terms & Conditions

Conditions of Use

These Conditions are supplemental to the Conditions of use of your Card and the conditions of use of AIB Internet Banking.

Your acceptance of these conditions provides your request and consent to receive statements on your Account electronically via AIB Internet Banking. These electronic statements are hereinafter referred to as 'eStatements'.  Defined terms in these terms and conditions (denoted by a capital letter) will have the same meaning as set out in the Conditions of use of your Card. By accessing eStatements via AIB Internet Banking you will be deemed to have accepted the following:

1. eStatements vary in format and other respects to paper statements, in particular:

  • you will not receive any notification (either electronic or postal) that an eStatement is available to view.  IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO ACCESS e-STATEMENTS ONLINE. If your eStatement has not been viewed we will, upon you accessing your Cards 'recent transactions' on AIB Internet Banking, display an onscreen message notifying you that your most recent eStatement has not yet been viewed. Nevertheless it remains at all times your responsibility to access your eStatement;
  • the format of an eStatement varies from a paper based statement and, in particular, for security reasons, your name and address will not be included on the eStatement;
  • should you request a paper based copy statement following receipt of an eStatement, a duplicate statement fee may be applied in accordance with the fees and charges applicable to your Card;
  • if the minimum payment is not paid by the due date an arrears message will be displayed when you access your Cards 'recent transactions' using AIB Internet Banking;
  • due to the nature of an eStatement you will no longer receive a 'bank giro' form.  Card payments can however continue to be made by Direct Debit, AIB Internet Banking or AIB Phone Banking;
  • in order to receive eStatements you will require a Code Card or Card Reader (as well as internet access). You must also (if not already done) register for access to AIB Internet Banking.

2. Upon accessing your eStatement, using AIB Internet Banking, the statement will be displayed in a separate session window.  This means that when you close AIB Internet Banking the eStatement will remain on screen unless closed by you.  You must close this session window and not leave it open to view by, or in any way accessible to, third parties.  In particular you must not save an eStatement on a PC which is not your own.  Your eStatement will be available to view for a period of 12 months.

3. You may at any time stop receiving eStatements provided you agree to return to receiving paper statements.  You must give AIB at least 10 days notice to effect this request and once in effect the next statement issued to you will be a paper statement.

4. We may at our discretion, at any time and for any reason (including arrears on the Account), suspend your access to eStatements during which time you will receive paper statements via post.  Such suspension may be caused by circumstances beyond our control.

5. You agree that AIB are not liable for any loss or damage (other than that resulting solely from gross negligence) suffered directly or indirectly and which arises out of, or that may be in any way related to, the provision by us, and access by you, of eStatements.

6. No provision in these conditions shall affect your statutory rights.  In the event of any conflict with such rights, your statutory rights shall prevail.  These conditions may be varied in accordance with the Conditions of use of your Card.

7. You agree and are hereby notified that the definition of 'Statement' contained in the Conditions of use of your Card is amended as follows;

'Statement' means a paper based statement issued by us in respect of the Account.  The Bank and the Cardholder may agree from time to time to vary the format of a Statement to include statements of account issued by electronic means.
