When shopping online it is important to feel confident using your credit card or debit card. Verified by Visa and MasterCard Securecode is a free service offered by AIB in partnership with Visa and MasterCard to give AIB credit and debit cardholders additional security and peace of mind when shopping online.

What is Verified by Visa and MasterCard SecureCode?

Verified by Visa & MasterCard SecureCode protects your AIB credit & debit cards against unauthorised use when you shop online at participating retailers. If you make a purchase in a shop, you enter a PIN number or sign a receipt to validate the transaction. With Verified by Visa & MasterCard SecureCode this process is mimicked by providing a digital receipt that you sign off with your own personal password.

Verified by Visa is the service provided by Visa for Visa credit or debit cards (Visa debit).

MasterCard SecureCode is the service provided by MasterCard for MasterCard credit or debit cards (Maestro).

How can I register?

When you shop online with participating retailers, you will be asked to register for this secure service. You can choose to ignore this request to register once, but on the next occasion you must register. Alternatively you can pre-register your card now by selecting the link in the Related Information section. See below for which link you should choose:

What will I be asked when I register?

When you register, you will be asked for your card number and some additional pieces of information.

Every time you use the convenience of online shopping with participating retailers, AIB and Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode section will appear on the participating retailer's webpage and ask you for random characters from your password.

Please note: Certain retailers will not be enabled for this service. If you choose to shop with them, you can follow normal online process.

Can I choose not to register for Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode?

You can choose to ignore this request to register once, but on the next occasion you must register, otherwise you will not be able to purchase with any Verified by Visa or MasterCard SecureCode registered retailers in future.

Keeping your Password and 'Personal Comfort Message' Safe

It is very important to remember your Password and Comfort Message. When setting your Password or Comfort Message avoid combinations that may be possible for someone else to guess.

Never write down or record your Password or Comfort Message. Keep them secret and do not disclose them to anyone.

Never give your Password or Comfort Message out over the telephone or in written correspondence.

If you think that someone knows your Password or Comfort Message, change them immediately.
