Benefits of the Personal Bank Account

A way to bank free of maintenance and transaction fees*

When we open a personal Current Account for you we will give you an AIB Debit Card and register you for AIB Phone & Internet Banking.

To qualify to bank free of maintenance and transaction fees, all you need to do each fee quarter is to make a purchase with your AIB Debit Card AND use AIB Phone & Internet Banking to make a debit transaction like paying a bill. Please refer to our Related Information section for more details.

Your AIB Debit Card

Your AIB Debit Card is widely accepted at supermarkets, petrol stations, department stores and other retail outlets. It is also accepted world wide in over 120 countries at millions of retail outlets and ATMs where the Maestro and Link symbols are displayed. You can also use your card to pay for goods and services by phone and over the internet where Laser is accepted.

Terms and conditions apply. Debit Cards are liable to annual Government Stamp Duty. Currently EUR2.50 per card applies where the card is used for either an ATM/in branch transaction or a Point of Sale transaction, and EUR5.00 per card applies where the card is used for both. Government Stamp Duty of EUR 0.50 per cheque applies.

AIB Phone & Internet Banking

With AIB Phone & Internet Banking you have access to your accounts at a time and a place that is convenient to you. You can check the balance on your account, pay a range of bills, transfer money to any account in the Republic of Ireland and abroad, top up a mobile, order a statement and do much more. Regular Statements

Easy-to-read personal current account statements, listing all your account transactions in Euros (you can also get this information anytime through AIB Phone & Internet Banking).

eStatements

AIB Internet Banking offers you the choice to receive your current account statements online instead of receiving paper statements by post. Before you can switch to eStatements you will need to be registered for AIB Phone & Internet Banking and have an AIB Code Card or Card Reader.

Overdraft facility

Arranging an overdraft can help you get through those times when you run out of cash unexpectedly. It allows you to access additional funds on your account up to an agreed figure. Overdrafts are subject to terms, conditions and financial status and are not available to persons under 18 years of age.

Exemption from fees and charges

There is no change to the existing free maintenance and transaction banking arrangements for customers with the following account types: Online Overdraft, Gain, Masterplan, Student Accounts and Graduate Accounts. You may also be exempt from fees and charges* if you have an AIB Debit Card and are registered for AIB Phone & Internet Banking.
