128-bit SSL encryption is a technology which "scrambles" information while it is moving from one computer to another, in order to prevent the information being viewed or tampered with.
128-bit SSL encryption is the highest level of protection, which Microsoft supports for all internet connections.
Since 2nd December 2004, all users of AIB Internet Banking must use a browser with 128-bit SSL encryption.
You can 'check you are using a recent browser' from within the ' trouble shooting' section of the online help.
If you suspect that you have received a fraudulent email please forward it to alert@aib.ie.
There are a few steps that you can take to help prevent yourself being caught out by fraudulent emails:
Links within an email are not always what they pretend to be. Always type the address of the login page in the browser manually.
AIB would never ask you to confirm any of your personal details through an email. If an email is asking for details forward it immediately to alert@aib.ie. Do NOT click on any links from within the email.
In the event that AIB needs to contact you regarding security updates we will use the message centre.
If you receive an email mentioning security or updates or asking for personal details, login to your internet banking service and check the message centre. If there is nothing there then the email is a fake, forward it immediately to alert@aib.ie.
If you think you have entered details on a fraudulent site please contact our customer service adviser team on 1980 24 24 24 as soon as possible.
They can instantly block your current registration details and issue you with a new Registration Number and PAC.
It usually takes the average user between 5 and 10 minutes.
No, upgrading is free.
If you are using version 2 or 3 of Microsoft Internet Explorer or version 3 or 4 of Netscape Navigator, you must change your browser to a later version, as 128-bit SSL encryption is not available with these versions.
We would always advise using the latest version of your chosen browser. This will help to ensure you have the safest and most secure experience possible while using the internet.
Each time you login to AIB Internet Banking we will display the details of your last login. This is an additional security measure that we have taken to ensure that you know if someone has fraudulently accessed your accounts online.
The details that are shown are the day, date and time It is important that you check your last login every time you login to AIB Internet Banking. It will be displayed in the top navigation bar as indicated below. If you are suspicious of the last login shown and do not recall logging into AIB Internet Banking on that date, please contact our Customer Service Advisers for assistance at 1890 24 24 24 or +353 1 6670024.
