How do I open an account?

What kind of account is it?

The Online Savings account is a regular savings deposit account that you open online.

You must set up a regular payment into the account (weekly, fortnightly or monthly).

In addition to the regular payments you can transfer additional funds into the account online or over the phone whenever it suits you.

What is the Special bonus interest?

You'll receive a special bonus if you make regular lodgements (at least one per quarter) to your account and make no more than one withdrawal per year (between the 1st April to 31st March).

Your bonus will be added to your account with your interest in March. The size of the bonus depends on the length of time you have had the account:

  • Year 1, a bonus of 10% of interest is paid
  • Year 2, a bonus of 20% of interest is paid
  • Year 3, a bonus of 30% of interest is paid
  • Year 4, a bonus of 40% of interest is paid
  • Year 5, a bonus of 50% of interest is paid
  • When 5 years have been reached, the bonus cycle starts all over again with 10% in year 6 and increases incrementally as before.

The tax on interest DIRT at standard rate is applicable.

If you break the bonus conditions the account will revert to year 1 with a bonus of 10% available.

How can I make lodgements to my online savings plan?

The maximum monthly lodgement is €1000 and the minimum monthly lodgement is €20.

There are no restrictions on the number of lodgements that can be made.

At least one lodgement must be made per quarter to satisfy the bonus criteria.

You can make additional lodgements to your online savings plan, subject to the maximum monthly lodgement amount of €1000.
