Frequently Asked Questions

Code card

To safeguard your peace of mind when banking online, we have added an additional layer of security to our Internet Banking service called the 'Code Card'.

The 'Code Card' is simply a card that contains a list of 100 individual code numbers. The Code Card is unique for every customer and each code on the Code Card will only ever be used once. We have combined information that only you know (your Registration Number and Personal Access Code) with information that you will now have in your possession (the Code Card).

Code Card enables us to offer our customers new, timesaving and secure services.

How do I use the Code Card?

Once you have ordered and received your Code Card via the post, you will be asked to enter a code from your Code Card when you complete a new service.

AIB Internet Banking will ask you to enter a random code from the list of 100 codes on your Code Card e.g. Code Number 24.

You should input the 4-digit code corresponding to the Code Number on your Code Card to confirm your transaction.

If the code you entered is correct, your transaction will be completed successfully. It's that simple.

If the code you entered is incorrect you will have 2 more attempts to enter the correct code.

If you are not successful on the next 2 attempts when entering a code from your Code Card, your transaction will not be processed and your Code Card will be 'locked'. You will be advised to contact a customer service adviser.
