Central Credit Register
 

The Central Credit Register (CCR) collects information from lenders on credit applications and credit agreements of €500 or more. The CCR gives customers more information on their financial profile, and gives the Central Bank of Ireland insights into national trends.

You can read more information about the CCR and may ask for a copy of your individual credit report at www.centralcreditregister.ie.

If you wish to apply for an AIB credit product you may need to provide us with an original or electronic version (for example a PDF or photo) of a document showing both your PPSN and full name.

Personal Customers - which documents are acceptable to verify your PPSN?

• P60 / Employment Detail Summary

• P45

• P21 / Statement of Liability

• Payslip

• Tax Assessment

• Notice of Tax Credits

• Receipt of Social Welfare Payment

• Medical Card (if a PPSN is quoted)

• Drug Payment Scheme (DPS) Card

• Correspondence from the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection or the Revenue Commissioners addressed to you showing your PPSN

If you are resident in Ireland, we can only accept a PPSN.

If you are resident outside of Ireland, you can provide a PPSN or Non Irish Tax Reference Number (TRN). You will need to provide us with an original or electronic version (for example a PDF or photo) of a document issued by the relevant tax authority. This tax reference document must show both your TRN and full name.

Please ensure that:

• The uploaded or scanned document is legible; and

• The original or electronic version of the document you provide is one of the documents listed above which notes your PPSN/TRN and your full name.
   

Please note that:

• AIB cannot legally use a Public Service Card for PPSN verification.

• If you are unable to provide a document to verify your PPSN/TRN at the time of application, you may need to provide it before you can avail of your credit or in the case of your mortgage application, before you obtain a mortgage loan offer.

   

How do I provide AIB with this document?

• You can visit any AIB branch and provide a paper copy of your document.

• If registered for Online Banking, you can simply upload a PDF or photo of your document by selecting 'Verify PPSN' on the Services & Settings menu.
   

Business Customers – which documents are acceptable to verify your details?

• If you are a Sole Trader or Partnership you can follow the same steps (as outlined above for personal customers) to provide your PPSN or TRN and have this information verified. Sole traders may also supply a Tax Clearance Certificate from the Revenue Commissioners to verify their PPSN.

• If you are a company registered with the Companies Registration Office (CRO) we will automatically check and verify your CRO Number, name of your business and registered address as part of our credit application process. You should not have to provide us with any additional documentation to verify this information.

• If you are another business customer type (e.g. an incorporated society/charity, club or association) you will need to provide us with a document which confirms either your Business Registration Number, Legal Entity Identifier (LEI) or TRN (whichever is applicable) along with the name of your business and address. This document may be a Certificate of Incorporation, Tax Clearance Certificate or any other tax reference document issued by the Revenue Commissioners or other relevant tax authority in respect of that tax type (in the case of a TRN).
