Investing with Capital Security in Mind

In recent years, stock & property market volatility, coupled with falling deposit rates have led many people to search for alternative investment options that provide them with an opportunity to earn returns, without putting their capital at risk.

Fixed term Tracker Funds have proven popular, as they provide investors with the opportunity to tap into the growth potential of the stock, bond, commodity and/or property markets without taking on the risks to their capital normally associated with such investments.

These funds tend to suit those investors who are comfortable locking a percentage of their money away for a specific time period (e.g. normally 4 to 6 years), who recognise the higher growth potential of the stock, bond, property & commodity markets, but do not want to put their capital at risk.

Warning: Past performance is not a reliable guide to future performance

Typical features of a Tracker Fund

  • Your original investment amount is 100% capital secure, giving you peace of mind that your original capital will be returned to you at the end of the specified investment period (e.g. after 4 to 6 years)
  • Some of these products also have a guaranteed minimum return, so at least you know that you will have earned some interest on your money.
  • One of the features that make tracker funds stand out from standard deposit accounts, is that the investor can potentially earn a return on their investment depending on the performance of one or more specified "stock, bond, commodity or property indices" over the investment term.

Warning: The value of your investment may go down as well as up

Warning: if you invest in this product you will not have any access to your money for the duration of the term.

AIB Tracker Funds*

AIB offer a selection of Tracker funds for investment. Please view our current Tracker range from the Related Information section box on the right hand side of this page .

* These funds are not actively managed and each issue is open for subscription only for a limited period. The precise funds on offer and their terms vary from issue to issue, depending on the prevailing investment conditions - and withdrawals are not permitted during the fund's specified Initial Investment Period. For a more detailed description of each fund, please read the Tracker booklet which is available from the Related Information section box on the right hand side of this page and from your AIB Financial Adviser.

Please be aware that the stockmarket indices take no account of the dividends that you would receive if you were to invest directly in the shares of the companies that make up the indices. If growth is more important to you than capital security, then you may consider AIB's range of investment funds that offer greater growth potential (but are not capital secure).
