Options at Retirement

Now that you are approaching retirement, it is important that you establish:

  • if you can avail of any tax-efficient opportunities to boost your retirement 'pot' before you retire (e.g. extracting profits from your business, into your personal retirement fund)
  • the combined value of your retirement 'pot' (e.g. investments, property, pensions)
  • what income your combined assets will likely give you in retirement
  • will you qualify for state pension benefits
  • are you eligible to draw down any of your retirement 'pot' in a tax free lump sum?
  • the most appropriate post-retirement vehicle for you to transfer your pension proceeds (do you buy a pension annuity or invest in an Approved Retirement Fund?).
  • would you prefer the peace of mind that a guaranteed lifetime pension income would give you? OR
  • would you prefer more control over your accumulated retirement 'pot', allowing you to draw on the funds as you need them, invest them as you see fit & pass the funds on as part of your estate?

Decisions you make at this crucial stage of your life will affect your financial wellbeing for your retirement years, so it is important that you get the right advice & support to help you make the right choices.

Warning: The value of your investment may go down as well as up
