Planning your Investments

Your AIB Financial Adviser will ask you some key questions to ensure you have all the information you need to make the right choice:

• Your investment goals: Do you want your capital to be secure or invest to try to achieve superior returns - or find a balance in between?
• The right term: The length of time you want to invest is critical to your investment decisions. If you do nothing with your lump sum, it can lose real value over time due to inflation.  Remember, EUR50,000 could have bought you a house 15 years ago, but if it was left under the mattress, today it would barely buy you a mobile home!
• Access: Decide if you'll need short term access to some or all of your funds.
• Investment amount: How much money you have to invest will dictate how far you can spread your investments and how much you will need to retain as an emergency fund. 
• Your attitude to investment risk: Are you adventurous or cautious? Can you tolerate falls in the markets, or a return that doesn't keep pace with inflation?
